Is it pronounced GIF or JIF?
GIF is an acronym that stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
GIF can be pronounced either with a hard 'G' (as in gift) or with a
soft 'G' (as in Jif). Steve Wilhite, the creator of the GIF format,
intended for it to be pronounced with a soft “G', however most people
say it with a hard “G'. Those people insist on correcting me 'THE
MADgeek' everytime, yet they probably have never read one book that
discussed such topics as I prefer the soft 'G' the way it was
intended...
