What does “There’s no Place Like 127.0.0.1” mean...

127.0.0.1 is your home IP address.

When testing your network connection you can ping this ip address to verify that your network adapter is bound properly to its local host. So thinking back to Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz “There’s no place like home” this phrase is just a spoof of “There is no place like home.”

Simple ways to find out your IP Address:

Click "Start", type "cmd" and press "Enter" to open the Command Prompt window.
Type "ipconfig" and press "Enter". Look for "Default Gateway" under your network adapter for your router's IP address.

or simply use the command "Nslookup" followed by 127.0.0.1 under the command line to ping...
[the result is your ip address]

An other way is to just follow this link:
https://whatismyipaddress.com

[the result is your ip address as it is seen by everyone else]
then use the command "Nslookup" under the command line followed by the ip address you just got from the link to ping...
[again the result is your ip address]
